BENGHAZI, Libya Oct 9 (Reuters) - Libya’s Ras Lanuf Oil and Gas Processing Company (RASCO) announced on Wednesday the resumption of production at its polyethylene factory, which had been shut since 2013.
The plant’s first production line began operating late on Tuesday with an output of around 240 tonnes per day, equivalent to 80,000 tonnes a year, said RASCO, which is a subsidiary of the state-run National Oil Corporation (NOC).
The plant is expected to have a production capacity of 160,000 tons per year and to export 60% of its production in the long term, the NOC said in a statement.
A second production line is expected to be in operation by May 2020, the NOC said. (Reporting by Alaa Swilam and Ayman al-Warfalli Writing by Aidan Lewis Editing by Rosalba O’Brien) source
