President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed on Thursday Egypt's support for efforts exerted by Libya's national army to eliminate terrorist groups in the country.
His statements came during a meeting with speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives Aguila Saleh at Ittihadiya presidential palace in Cairo.
El-Sisi’s spokesman Bassam Rady said the president affirmed the importance of respecting the will of the Libyan people and supporting Libya's legitimacy, represented by the House of Representatives, which was elected by the Libyan people.
The House of Representatives voted in May to ban the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood, designating it a terrorist group, during a session held in the city of Tobruk.
